League Rules

As Muslim men it is our responsibility to lower the gaze. Allah SWT tells us in the Quran to not approach zina. Both men and women should lower their gaze when dealing with each other. This is especially the case when Muslim men and women talk to each other. 

 

 

ROSTERS

Once roster deadline has passed (which is determined prior to the season starting by IBL Board) all rosters are then locked in for the season.  Any unpaid players that play will forfeit that game.


EQUIPMENT
Illegal equipment may be, but is not limited to:  a guard, cast or brace made of hard and unyielding leather, plaster, metal or any hard substance, and hats of any kind.  Braces must be ace-wrapped around. 

If a player is wearing illegal equipment, a technical foul will be given to the offending player.  

JERSEYS:

Players must be wearing their team jersey's when playing in their scheduled game. If they don't have there jersey they will be given a technical. 

If a player is caught switching jersey's with another player on his team, a technical foul and posession of the ball will be awarded to the opposing team. The violating players will be ejected for the rest of the game.

PLAY
If a team is late, the forfeit time is 10 minutes after the scheduled start.  Two points will be awarded to the opposing team for every minute, and a forfeit will result in a maximum of 20 – 0 for the other team

Teams must be checked into the scorekeeper, with jerseys checked out before the grace period or they shall forfeit the game.  Teams must have at least four (4) players to start the game.  Three (3) players are allowed to finish the game.

A game will consist of two (2) (20)-minute halves.  A 3-minute break will be allowed at half time unless running behind scheduled.  The clock will stop at the last one (1) minute of the 1st half and the last two (2) minutes in the 2nd half on all whistles. 

A three-minute overtime period will be played in case of a tie.  The clock will stop on the last minute during the overtime period.

Each team will be allowed Three (3) thirty (30)-second time-outs per game.  The clock will stop during all time-outs.  Each team will be allowed one time-out in each overtime period. Unused timeouts will not carry over to any subsequent overtime period. 

The score sheet shall be the official score.  Scoreboards will be used as a supplement to the score sheet.  The officials may correct any error, any time it is brought to their attention.

Officials, scorers and/or supervisors may stop or forfeit a game at any point in the interest of participant safety or in the event of gross misconduct by players and/or spectators.

Only players on the roster are allowed to sit in the designated bench area. 

RULES

 

Players and Substutions
All substitutes must check in at the scorer’s table and may not enter the court until beckoned by an official.


Each player is allowed five (5) fouls per game before being disqualified.  Every foul, personal or technical, counts toward player disqualification and total number of team fouls per half.
 

During multiple free throw attempts the substitute may not enter until after the first free throw has been attempted.
 

A player who has been withdrawn or directed to leave the game (including an injury) shall not re-enter before the next opportunity to substitute after the clock has been properly started following his/her placement.
 

If a player is bleeding, the game will be stopped and the player must come out of the game.  The bleeding must be stopped and the wound covered before the player can re-enter the game. Participants cannot wear garments containing blood during the contest.

 
Free Throws

The 7th, 8th, and 9th team fouls will constitute to a one free throw shot to the offended player “One and One Bonus”.  If made, an additional bonus shot shall be allowed.  On the 10th team foul, and all fouls thereafter for each half, two free throw shots will be awarded to the offended player “Double Bonus”.

Players that are lined up in the free box area may enter the lane on a free throw attempt until the ball leaves the hand of the shooter (Off the release). 

The shooter and players that are around the 3-point area may enter the lane on a free throw attempt until the ball hits the rim of the basket. 

No players shall shoot free throws for player or team control fouls.

Fouls

Personal - A player foul that involves illegal contact with an opponent, while the ball is live or committed by or on an airborne shooter. 

Common - A personal foul that is neither flagrant nor intentional nor committed against a player trying for a field goal.

Intentional - A personal foul or technical foul designed to stop or keep the clock from starting, or to neutralize an opponent’s obvious advantageous position.  A foul shall also be ruled intentional if while playing the ball a player causes excessive contact with an opponent.  

 

A player must have possession of the ball in order for them to be fouled and the ball will be place at point of interruption.  One player cannot foul another player without the ball with the intent to stop the clock or send that player to the free throw line. 
RESULT:  TWO FREE THROWS & THE BALL.

Flagrant - May be a personal or technical foul of a violent or savage nature, or a technical non-contact foul, which displays unacceptable conduct.  If personal, it involves violent contact such as striking, kicking, kneeing, etc.  If technical, it involves dead ball contact or non-contact at any time, which is extreme or persistent, vulgar, or abusive conduct.  Fighting is always a flagrant act.  
RESULT:  TWO POINTS & THE BALL. AUTOMATIC EJECTION.


Technical Foul - Can be any one or all of the following:

Any swearing or obscene language will be a technical foul 
A foul by a non-player
A non-contact foul by a player
An intentional or flagrant contact foul while the ball is dead, except a foul by an airborne shooter.

RESULT:  TWO POINTS & THE BALL.  TWO TECHNICAL FOULS FOR ANY ONE PLAYER ON A TEAM RESULTS IN THAT PLAYER BEING EJECTED.  TEAMS RECEIVING A TOTAL OF THREE TECHNICAL FOULS WILL BE FORFEITED FROM THAT GAME.

Obscene Language/Swearing:  Any language that the referee determines is obscene and inappropriate shall be handled in the following manner:
A technical foul shall be assessed to the individual for any foul language.

Absolutely no swearing on the courts or to the officials.

 

There is a zero tolerance for fighting.  Fighting may result in a permanant ban from the league.  If a fight results in stoppage of the game, both teams will incur a loss.

 

TIE BREAKERS:

1.  Head to Head matchup 

2.  If more than 2 teams share the same W/L record, pt differential is used.

3.  If pt differential is the same, the team with the lesser points allowed becomes the higher seed.
